THE DARKPSYDE

CULTURE
As you all know The Darkpsyde aims to bring you all the best info relating to the darkpsy scene. There is however, I believe, another integral and very important element to the scene which is not found in many other, if any other, form of electronic dance music's culture. That element is a very deep spiritual interest and connection which comes from many different sources.
As has been discussed before on this site the very essence of the trance dance ritual itself dates back thousands of years to ancient cultures who used it as a spiritual healing tool. The more modern form of trance music has it's roots firmly placed within Indian culture, where the first hippies settled, drawn by, and taking inspiration from, the Buddhist and Hindu religions and the Eastern mysticism of the country in general.
Within psytrance there has always been, and there consistently continues to be, huge amounts of references to and talk of spiritulism, higher states of consciousness, cosmic forces, transcendence, enlightenment and the such. It might also be worth noting once again that the man affectionatly thought of as 'the Godfather of psytrance', Goa Gil, is himself a Sadhu (holy man) and has always insisted on, and presented strong evidence of, the connection between (dark) psytrance and spirituality. Although very obviously this kind of spiritual interest is in no way, shape or form exclusively linked to our scene, it is my experience that the people who are drawn to psytrance music are often also very interested in this kind of information. It is for this reason that The Darkpsyde has decided to present this culture section to you where there will be articles on spiritual literature, perceived 'cosmic' possibilities and other topics which might possibly be labeled by some as 'outside the box'. Most people have their own beliefs and opinions on spiritual matters. Whilst one persons truth may be the opposite of another persons I do not think that either can be wrong, a personal belief is a personal belief and while we may not agree with each other we should respect each others opinions. Therefore The Darkpsyde encourages any writers out there who have something relevant to say on these kind of topics to by all means submit articles to us to be considered for publication ------------------------------------------------------------------
